Merry Christmas, Rocumentalberries.

The  documentaries featured in this special holiday issue should provide you with a healthy balance of introspection and foresight. Not to mention welcome relief from this year’s abysmal Christmas television.

Following the festive mayhem, our top pick ’Minimalism’ feels more relevant than ever. This film has personally inspired me to purge my (already fairly minimal) collection of possessions. I actually spent Christmas Eve filling up bags to take to the charity shop.

Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things ★★★★★
“Through a series of interviews with neuroscientists, socio-psychologists and minimalists, this film explores how simplifying our lives can teach us what to appreciate. This wonderful documentary follows two friends, who became disillusioned with climbing the corporate ladder. In pursuit of a simple life, they shed their superfluous possessions, rejecting a status quo polluted by excessive consumption.”

“The best things in life, aren’t things.” — Art Buchwald

The Fourth Industrial Revolution ★★★★★
“Our world is changing at an unprecedented rate. From AI, to self-driving cars and neurotechnological advances. What does the future hold, and how can we prepare ourselves for this seismic shift?”
Bonus: 'Lo & Behold' is now on Netflix ★★★★★
Werner Herzog’s excellent documentary ‘Lo and Behold’ is now available on Netflix. This wonderful film explores how the acceleration of technology has changed our world, and where it is taking us.
